Music and school

Got to see Sondre Lerche last night despite being exhausted. It was good that I won tickets to his show, because after being up at 5 a.m. to go to a math class, I’m not sure that I would have been able to convince myself to go otherwise! The show was great – I never realized that when he plays live, it’s just him. Neat.

School was good – I really like my online CS class and that is definitely where I will be spending most of my study time. I’m still trying to get into a math class, which means that Monday I went to four of them, and tomorrow I will be going to the same four again, yerg. 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. is a little rough – I get an hour for lunch though. Quite a range of people teaching the math class too – one of the classes had me thinking, gee, maybe I should go to the next higher class and one guy had me so slightly scared that I was thinking about heading to a pre-high school class. I think I’d get a lot out of his class but I’m wonder if it’d take too much time away from CS (he’s not going to teach from the book, but the tests and homework will be from it, so essentially I’d have to teach myself).

5 a.m., if you don’t know this, is a time to go to bed, not a time to get up. Not cool, not cool. I’m holding out hope for the 2 p.m. one, keep your fingers crossed for me.

Have any of you taken the GRE recently? I’m thinking about taking it in February, but it’s been at least 14 years since my last math class, and I’m wondering if that’s enough time to get back up to speed. I’ll need to have at least okay scores in the math section.
