Today has been really cool so far.
I didn’t sleep very much last night, and what sleep I got was peppered with bizarre and surreal dreams (I was often happy that I woke up and after the worst one at 3:30 a.m., I stayed up reading for an hour to clear my head). Despite that, it is impossible not to be happy today with 77 degree weather, and an impossibly blue sky.
I hopped in the shower right away this morning, grabbed my cowboy hat and strolled up to the King Market Sunday farmers’ market near my neighborhood. I didn’t grab much of a bag, just a backpack purse because I was only going to check it out. Snort. Not only did I fill the backpack to bursting, but I had to carry a seperate bag in my hands.
It is a good market – a good number of my favorite vendors from the PSU market were there. I bought blueberries, blackberries, potatoes, green beans, and summer squash. I’m counting the walk back as backpack conditioning. Next time I go, I am going to sample the tamales vendor – they looked really good and they had a vegetarian tamale that had jalapenos in it which looked sooooo yummy.
Got home and discovered that the blackberries were ever so slightly soft so I decided to use them up in agua fresca. We’ve been getting about 2 cucumbers a week from Groundwork Organics in our CSA box, and not being a huge cucumber fan, I decided to use them up in agua fresca. Blackberry cucumber agua fresca is an odd combination, but strangely refreshing and I’m enjoying drinking it quite a bit today.
Only other major plans today are to work on some freelance and then Katie and I are going to walk to dinner somewhere. Yay for more walking!
Gretchen and her kids arrive in less than a week, I am so excited!
